MESSAGE FROM OUR BOOSTER CLUB

BOOSTER CLUB UPDATE   11/30/2012

It was great to see everyone at the chemical awareness meeting this week!  We are grateful for the ongoing interest in continuing to promote and develop our culture to both enhance the tradition of MV basketball and to encourage the overall development of the players!  Here are a couple of reminders:

For those who still intend to contribute their booster fees, the Hanson’s will accept those contributions at upcoming games.  The suggested contributions are:  $50/player for 9-10 grade teams and $100/player for the JV/Varsity.  These contributions help supplement:  the coaches salary, replace game uniforms on an ongoing basis, equipment needs and help with other promotional events for the boys.

The next Booster Club meeting will be Thursday, Jan 24, 2013 at the Shoreview Community Center at 7 PM.  An agenda will be forthcoming in early January.  All are invited and we look forward to your input to further develop our organization and enhance our purpose.

Dave Leiser Named Head Coach of the Mustangs

Dear Mounds View Basketball Families:

We are pleased to announce that Dave Leiser has accepted our head boys’ basketball coaching position. His acceptance comes after an extensive search, two rounds of interviews and considerable local, regional and national interest in this position.

Dave is a 1987 graduate of Mounds View High School. He has been an assistant in the program for twenty years. He was also the 2002 Aflac National Assistant Coach of the year. Dave brings to our program knowledge of our community, tradition and expectations. He understands what this program has accomplished, but also understands the needs of the program moving forward.

Dave will be only the third coach in our program’s storied history. Although our boys’ basketball team has accomplished great things, we look forward to the new perspective he will bring to our program.

As our community welcomes Dave in his new role, please join me in supporting his vision for the promising next chapter of Mustang basketball.

Sincerely,

Bob Madison
Activities Director

Head Coach Update

April 19, 2012

Dear Mounds View Basketball Families:

Now that our season and banquet has concluded, I wanted to update you on our process
on determining our new head boys’ basketball coach. Right now our position has been
posted and we’ve been taking applications for about a month. I am currently in the
process of reviewing those who have applied and am analyzing their experience and
references prior to interviewing.

In the next week I will convene an interview committee who will act in an advisory
fashion. The committee will consist of two Mounds View Coaches, returning student-
athletes, parents, a former player, and a community member. My goal is to begin
interviewing shortly after convening the committee.

This is an exciting time for our basketball program. I appreciate your interest and support
in continuing our strong tradition.

Sincerely,

Robert Madison Jr.
Activities Director

Friday Night Highlights

The Mustangs capped off a special night by defeating East Ridge 54-48.  More pictures to come soon.

Little Eyes Upon You
There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.

There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellow's idol,
you're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you
no suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly,
holds all you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way
when he's grown up just like you.

There's a wide-eyed little fellow
who believes you're always right;
and his eyes are always opened,
and he watches day and night.

You are setting an example
every day in all you do;
For the little boy who's waiting
to grow up to be just like you.

Kauls Court Dedication/Alumni Night, Friday 1/13

Please join us Friday night at 7pm for the dedication of "Kauls Court" before the East Ridge game.  While the ceremony will specifically honor Coach's contributions to Mounds View High School, the night also represents a celebration of the legacy of Mustang basketball alumni that have created the incredible tradition that is Mustang Basketball.

The ceremony will begin prior to the varsity game at 7pm and there will be food and refreshments following the game.  We hope you can be there!
